A few months ago, WalterFrank completed the purchase of the former Angel Pub, a long-disused public house in Southampton. While the loss of a traditional pub can often be felt deeply within a neighbourhood, this particular property presented a very different scenario.
Having passed through ten separate owners in a decade, the Angel had struggled to operate viably for many years and had become increasingly underutilised. Conversations with local residents revealed strong support for a meaningful redevelopment that would better serve the community’s current needs.
Plans are now progressing to transform the building into a spacious, contemporary residential development designed around positive communal living. The scheme will deliver high-quality shared spaces alongside private en-suite bedrooms, each complete with tea stations to provide added independence and convenience.
The design balances sociability with privacy which is clearly an increasingly important consideration for today’s tenants who live and work locally.
With building regulations currently being finalised, the project is entering its next exciting stage. Our interior design team is refining layouts and introducing fresh, modern colour palettes to enhance both comfort and long-term appeal.
As we prepare to commence the build phase, we look forward to bringing this revitalised community-focused development to life and delivering much-needed accommodation in a prime Southampton location.
